What to expect from a cooler candle burn

Your candle will leave about .25 of an inch of wax along the jar during the first few burns. That early wax hang-up is expected and is different from tunneling. As the flame moves lower and the vessel holds more heat, the wax along the sides begins melting into the pool and the candle catches up naturally. The wick is chosen for steady performance throughout the life of the candle, not for a fast edge-to-edge melt pool on the first burn.
